Graduation/Commencement FAQ

Light Buffet

All College of Social and Behavioral Science graduates and their families are invited to a light buffet prior to Convocation from 4:30 pm - 6 pm at the OSH/LNCO plaza


All Students


Avoid crowds! Enter the Huntsman Center from the north outside entrances. (click any of the building links for a map and directions)

Please plan to arrive in your cap and gown no later than 6:15 p.m.

Pick up a convocation program at the tables outside the seating areas as you enter the Huntsman Center and go directly to your assigned seating section.

At your assigned seating section, you will fill out a name card, which will also be your photography card. Print your name as you want it read (e.g. Lee L. Smith) and pronounced if necessary (e.g. Sandy Schertenleib = 'sher-ten-"lIb).


Guest Seating

Guest seating is available in all sections and rows not reserved for the students or handicapped individuals.

Special Seating

Special seating arrangements for guests in wheel chairs or those having difficulty walking are available in Rows 30-31, in all areas of the Huntsman Center, in Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. There are seats available near this special seating area for those accompanying persons in wheel chairs. It is suggested that you arrive early to guarantee a seat in the area which you would like to be seated. Individuals needing to drop anyone off in the semi-circle drive of the Huntsman Center should notify Disability Services at 801-581-5020 to pick up a special permit. Any other disabilities, please call 801-581-8620.

Ph.D. & Master's


Form a line in the west tunnel (MAP) entrance to the Huntsman Center by 6:15 p.m.
The procession begins at 6:45 p.m.


Ph.D. Candidates:
Carry hoods over the right arm during procession. Candidates are "hooded" after
their name is read.

Master's Degree Candidates:
Wear hoods over shoulders during procession.

Ushers will direct students to seating area on the arena floor.


Photographer

A professional photographer has been authorized to photograph all students. Your name card is also your photo card. Photos will be mailed to you, but you are under no obligation to purchase pictures. Guests may take additional photos.

Commencement


Commencement Ceremony -
Jon M. Huntsman Center
8:00 a.m. - Students arrive in the parking lot south of Milton Bennion Hall
8:20 a.m. - Procession of graduates
9:00 a.m. - Commencement Ceremony begins
Guests should plan to be seated before 8:30 a.m.
